Who Am I?
Dear viewers of my blog,
After looking through my posts or maybe even before, you are probably wondering exactly just who is behind them. That would be me, Abi Horton.
ME
I am a student at NC State University and I am in the College of Education. My major is Elementary Education, which is why at the end of most of my blog posts I let readers know if a certain activity or piece of technology would be useful in an elementary classroom.
HOW I STARTED THIS BLOG
This blog was originally started because it is an ongoing assignment throughout the semester given to me by my ECI201 professor.
In the beginning I definitely thought creating a blog and attempting to make it educational, yet relatable would be a difficult task. How was I supposed to sound like a “blogger” if everything I was supposed to write about was education related? Well, I managed to figure it out and I think it turned out pretty well.
Throughout the semester it was important for me post content that was interesting and insightful. To ensure that I did just that, I posted about my favorite activities, games, and topics that we had worked through in class and shared with readers my perspective and opinions on these things.
WHAT I DO OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
When I am not in class or doing homework, I am babysitting, exercising, or just getting outside!
Babysitting is my job. I love children and have been babysitting since before I was able to drive. Because of this, I think that is why I have chosen to taken the path of becoming an educator. The cool thing about babysitting is that I am always learning something new from the kids I watch and there is never a dull moment.
Exercising is something that has been important to me for awhile. Both my parents are into working out and naturally athletic, so it has been instilled in me since the first time I stepped onto the soccer field when I was around 4 or 5 years old. Soccer did not really work out too well for me after I scored a goal for the other team! After that I tried my hand at volleyball since I am very tall and enjoyed it a lot, but still that wasn’t my thing either. Finally I found a sport I fell in love with which was tennis. When I am not on the court practicing or playing matches, I also like to get a good workout in by swimming, biking, walking, and sometimes jogging (if I am really motivated).
I love to be outside! I live in Morehead City which is a coastal town, so it only makes sense to enjoy being out in the sun as much as I do. Whether it is boating, swimming, tanning, gardening, strolling, or whatever else there is to do OUTSIDE, count me in!
